Like all the districts of Paris under the Second Empire, the Plaine‑Monceau district saw its population increase. After the Paris Commune, a new place of worship was built under the direction of the architect Édouard Delebarre de Bay. He chose a rather plain neo‑Romanesque style. The church, dedicated to Saint Francis of Sales, was blessed in 1873.

In the middle of the 20th century, it had several transformations by the Gonzalez, Muller and Maciet towards neo-classical aesthetics.In 1987, the instrument was rebuilt by Charles Sarelot (Languedoc Manufacture of Grandes-Orgues in Lovède). The neo-roman case was preserved. Ten stops were added: GO: Grosse Fourniture II, Plein Jeu V; Récit: Flûte à fuseau 4, Cymbalee IV; Solo: Grand Cornet V, Trompette 8, Clairon 4; Pédale: Principal 8, Octave 4, Bombarde 16.
